Photoshop also does this when used as an ext editor from LR, is this just the way all ext editors work, since they are non-destructive thus need a way to return the "edits" back to the software you started with? What do most people do in these cases, do you simply delete the RAW and keep the TIFF?

Read somewhere that the NIK collection, when used as a plug-in in LR, returns a TIFF only back to LR.
